KOCHI: The Nedumbassery police have arrested a woman from Odisha while she was picking up ganja thrown out of a moving train. The arrested was Ballar Singh (24), a native of Kandamal. The incident took place near the Neduvannur railway track on Sunday morning.

Locals saw some packages being thrown from the train into empty spaces. They then informed the police. When the police arrived and inspected, they found a woman collecting the packages. There were four packages in the woman's bag. About eight kilos of ganja were seized from inside.

An empty place will be found first. When the train reaches this area, the cannabis package will be thrown out. The new method is for those waiting there to collect it and smuggle it. The police are investigating whether the arrested woman has smuggled cannabis in the same way before.
