Real estate agent C M Sebastian arrested in Bindu Padmanabhan murder case

ALAPPUZHA: C M Sebastian, a real estate agent, has been arrested in the murder case of Bindu Padmanabhan of Kadakkarappally. The crime branch reached the jail and recorded his arrest. The accused will be taken into custody today. Sebastian is presently remanded in the murder case of Jainamma.

The audio related to the murder of Bindu Padmanabhan by Sebastian and his friend had surfaced recently. Broker Soda Ponnappan had revealed about the murder to his neighbour Sasikala of Kadakkarappally four years ago. The crime branch is examining the audio. The police have recorded her statement. Ponnappan is heard saying in the audio how Sebastian and his friend murdered Bindu.

Ponnappan is saying that he introduced Bindu Padmanabhan to Sebastian and his friend to sell her property. When he realized that Bindu had money in her hand, Sebastian and his friend became regular visitors there. They used to drink together. The audio says after drugging Bindu, the two murdered her in the washroom. Sebastian had come to see me one evening. There were some beat marks on his face. Ponnappan had asked him why she beat him.

Bindu had been missing since 2006. Her brother Praveen Kumar filed a complaint with the home department on September 17, 2017. The complaint reached the Kuthiyathode CI office through the district police chief on October 9, 2017. However, the first information report was filed after 70 days, on December 19. Allegations were levelled that high-ranking officials had been covering up the investigation during this time. It was also alleged that two high-ranking officials had accepted bribes.
