Sexually harassed nearly 60 students while working as a teacher; complaint against CPM councillor of Malappuram municipality, resigns later

MALAPPURAM: A complaint of sexual harassment has been lodged against K V Shashi Kumar, a CPM councillor of Malappuram municipality. The complaint was lodged by former girl students of aided school in the district where he had worked as a teacher. He resigned his municipality membership soon after the allegation was levelled.

The complaint said that he had sexually harassed and talked sexily to the girls while working as a teacher. Soon after retiring from service, he had penned a note on Facebook about his life as a teacher.

Just under it came the first allegation. He had tried to end his life at the time the complaint and the allegation were raised. He retired in March 2021.

The students said that he had sexually harassed nearly 60 students over the years. The complaint said that even after complaining to the school authorities in 2019, no action was taken.
