THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM state secretary M V Govindan was indirectly criticized at the leadership meeting for RSS remark. CPM central committee members Elamaram Kareem and P Rajeev criticized him. Elamaram Kareem and P Rajeev directed that statements like the CPM having links with communal forces will harm the party and such remarks should be avoided.
It was also decided in the meeting to study the defeat in the Nilambur by-election in detail. The assessment was that the calculations went wrong in the Nilambur by-election. The decision was that there should be a serious investigation into the party's vote leakage. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was also against Govind’s remark.
Meantime, M V Govindan's stand was that his remarks about the RSS connection during the Emergency period did not make any difference in the Nilambur by-election. He had also clarified that it was not to do good or harm, but said about history.
'UDF's victory in the Nilambur by-election was achieved with the support of communal forces. The BJP voted for the UDF to prevent the Left from winning. The UDF also had the support of Jamaat-e-Islami. The UDF used the communalism of the majority and minority. The UDF got votes by uniting communal forces and conducting false propaganda.
This will have a big impact on Kerala politics. We will examine the defeat and accept the necessary positions and move forward. If correction is needed, it will be corrected.
The UDF could not maintain the 2021 vote this time. Got 1420 less votes than last time. There is no anti-government sentiment. There is no Pinarayism. The political foundation of the LDF is safe. There is still a possibility of continued rule. Nilambur is not a constituency that the Left Front can win through political competition,' said Govindan.
