Accident case involving Maniyan Pilla Raju; Police lapse will be investigated

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An investigation will begin from today to find whether there was any lapse from the side of the police department in investigating the accident case involving actor Maniyan Pilla Raju. DCP Vinod is in charge of the investigation. All the moves made by the police since the information about the accident was received will be examined. The special branch is also conducting an investigation. The blood test results of the actor will be obtained only after two days. The medical examination results must be obtained to clarify whether he was driving under the influence of alcohol.

Allegations were levelled that there has been a lapse from the side of the police. City Police Commissioner K Karthik told media that the police had reached Raju's house on Thursday night itself but the house was found locked. The car was also not there. However, Raju responded that the police had come to his house at night and met him. When he said that he was sick and his wife was alone at home, the police returned and advised him to reach the station the next morning. The allegation is that this contradiction is an attempt to sabotage the case.

Raju had said yesterday that he called the police soon after the accident and was asked to reach the station the next morning. However, the police denied this. The police said that those who were at the accident site reported the incident.

Raju was subjected for an alcohol test. There were also allegations of a gameplan for not conducting the test earlier. Experts say that the medical examination after eight hours is irrelevant.

The Volvo car was taken into custody by the police from behind the tennis club based on Raju's statement. The injured youths told police that the accident happened at 9:30 pm. The CCTV examination revealed that it was after 10 pm.
