Booze party inside parked car in Kazhakkoottam; Six policemen suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Six policemen were suspended for drinking alcohol inside a private car parked in front of the Kazhakoottam police station. The commissioner announced that Grade SI Binu and Civil Police Officers Ratheesh, Manoj, Arun, Akhil Raj and Arun have been suspended. In addition to the suspension, the guilty officials will be sent for good conduct training.

The officers were drinking in a Scorpio car owned by the police station writer. The gang got drunk inside the parked car before heading for the wedding reception of the daughter of a prominent industrialist in Kazhakkoottam. After the visuals of drinking went viral on social media, the Special Branch SP ordered an investigation into the incident. Although four of the six officers were drunk, the investigation found that the two people who were with them were culpable as they made no effort to stop the officials from getting drunk.

The DGP had directly intervened in the incident and inspected the visuals. After an urgent report was requested from the Kazhakkoottam Assistant Commissioner, the report was submitted this morning itself. The authorities clarified that they would take strong action against anyone attempting to tarnish the reputation of the force.
