The issue will be discussed in the CPM Pathanamthitta district secretariat to be convened today.
The Thiruvananthapuram Cyber Police has registered a case against G P Kunjabdulla of Chalappuram in Nadapuram working in Qatar, who penned the lyrics, Haneefa of Kozhikode, who composed music and Danish Kootilangadi, the singer. The complaint filed by Prashanth Kuzhikkala, general secretary of the Thiruvabharanam Patha Samrakshana Samithi, alleging that the beautiful devotional song was used in a distorted way for political gain, was forwarded to the Cyber Operations Division. The complaint was forwarded to the Cyber Police Station after it was found that a case could be filed in the initial investigation. The song was widely circulated during the local body elections.
However, Thiruvabharanam Patha Samrakshana Samithi Chairman and Hindu Aikya Vedi State Secretary K Haridas said at the press meet that the complaint against the parody song was a political conspiracy by the CPM. Prasad Kuzhikkala filed the complaint with the DGP. He was initially an activist of the Thiruvabharanam Patha Samrakshana Samithi. Later, after his expulsion he formed a new organization with the same name. He also said that the Thiruvabharanam Patha Samrakshana Samithi has no connection with the complaint.
Meantime, CPM district secretary Raju Abraham said that a complaint has been filed with the election commission, alleging that the parody song violates the election code of conduct. The song hurts religious sentiments. The complaint stated that the Congress and the BJP tried to use the song to polarize the community and garner votes.
