Death threat; youth with knife caught on CCTV visuals near Kollam Mayor Honey Benjamin's house

KOLLAM: A man with a knife in his hand has allegedly approached Kollam Mayor Honey Benjamin's house and made death threats. The youth approached the mayor's house at Vaidyasala Junction in Uliyakovil on the 14th, at around 7 am, and inquired about the mayor from shops and locals. Rosamma, a fishmonger, became suspicious after seeing a knife in his possession and called the mayor on the phone to inform her. The youth, who had inquired about the mayor from Rosamma, had verbally abused the mayor and made death threats.

When the CCTV footage near the house was checked, it was found that the youth had come to the mayor's house with a knife several times before. The mayor filed a complaint with the City Police Commissioner and the Kollam East Police. The police have started an investigation.

The face of the accused is not clear in the CCTV footage. I did not witness the incident in person. I came to know this from acquaintances. The reason for the death threat is not clear.
