THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will tomorrow inaugurate the 'Emerging Bharat, Growing Kerala' business conclave organized by Kerala Kaumudi on Saturday. The event is aimed to help Kerala garner pace along with India as the country is in a prolific run to become the third-best economic power in the world.
The possibilities and challenges alerting the state for the next five years will be discussed. The event will be held at Hyatt Regency at 4.30 pm. Union Minister V. Muralidharan, Leader of Opposition V. D. Satheesan, Rajya Sabha member P. Santosh Kumar and other experts will participate. Kerala Kaumudi Chief Editor Deepu Ravi will deliver the introductory speech.
Chief News Editor V.S. Rajesh will give the vote of thanks. The Union Minister will release the cover page of the book 'Kuthipintekaruthil Keralam', an annual edition of economic development prepared by Kerala Kaumudi. Eminent people who have made comprehensive contributions to the economic development of the state will be honoured on the occasion.
Prominent people from the economic, social, political, commercial, trade and industrial sectors of the state will participate in the three-hour program. AICC working committee member and MP Dr Shashi Tharoor will inaugurate the concluding program at 6 p.m.
T K A Nair, Principal Secretary of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, State Planning Board Member Dr Raviraman, former Planning Board Member G. Vijayaraghavan, Economic Expert Dr Mary George and others will speak in the session to discuss Kerala's vast opportunities in the service and manufacturing sectors and the policy changes needed to achieve this target.
