FEFKA calls for public disclosure of names in Hema Committee report on sexual violence

KOCHI: Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA) has demanded that the names of individuals accused of sexual violence, as mentioned in the Hema Committee report, be made public. However, FEFKA has stated that it would refrain from making further comments, as the matter is currently under consideration by the High Court.

FEFKA has welcomed the government's decision to appoint a special investigation team to thoroughly investigate sexual crimes in the film industry and ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice. The organization has also outlined a plan to support survivors through its women's core committee, which will be responsible for encouraging survivors to file complaints and pursue legal action, providing them with all necessary legal assistance.

In addition, FEFKA has decided to engage the services of an expert clinical psychologist to help survivors overcome any fears or hesitations about approaching the Special Investigation Team and initiating legal proceedings.

FEFKA also expressed hope that the recent resignation of the executive committee of the actors' organization, AMMA, would lead to a transformative renewal within the organization. The FEFKA Steering Committee has directed its General Secretary to communicate with other film organizations regarding the Hema Committee report and subsequent developments and to advocate for a united, democratic and progressive approach across all industry organizations.
