THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Government of Kerala has approved the pending Dearness Allowance (DA) arrears for government employees and pensioners. A 10 percent arrear has been sanctioned, and an official order has been issued in this regard. The order was released by Additional Chief Secretary K R Jyothilal.

The arrears will be paid along with the March salary. As per the new order, government employees will now receive DA at the rate of 32 percent. Last week, the government had already sanctioned a 3 percent arrear. With the additional 10 percent now approved, the DA arrears promised in the budget have been implemented. Government employees were supposed to receive 35 percent DA, but only 22 percent had been paid earlier. This left a pending arrear of 13 percent, which the budget had announced would be given in instalments.
