Huge banyan tree falls on top of bus, student under treatment succumbs to injuries

KOZHIKODE: A student, who was undergoing treatment after a huge banyan tree fell on top of a bus on the state highway in Wandoor, has succumbed to his injuries. The dead is K Athul Dev (19) of Mambad Thekkumpadom Kurungattil Shreema Nivas. He died while undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital at 10.30 pm last night. He was a student of ITI in Moorkkanad. The accident happened while he was returning home from the college.

The huge banyan tree fell on top of the bus running between Wandoor and Poroor in Puliyakkode. Athul Dev, trapped between the seats were taken out after more than half an hour of effort. He was immediately taken to a private hospital in Wandoor and later to the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. He will be laid to rest in the premises of his house. Athul Dev is the son of Murali and Thara. His siblings Sreelakshmi, Amaldev, Kamaldev, and Vimaldev.
