
VELLARADA: Action has been taken against a conductor for dropping off a woman at night after a failed Google Pay transaction on a KSRTC bus. Based on the complaint of the woman, the empaneled conductor at the Vellarada depot, C Anil Kumar of Nellimoodu, was sacked from service. The action was taken after KSRTC vigilance officials visited the spot and conducted an investigation and submitted a report.
Divya of Anchumaramkala in Vellarada was dropped midway on December 26. The incident happened when she was returning home to Vellarada at 8.45 pm from a private hospital in Kunnathukal. After getting the ticket, she sent Rs 18 via Google Pay. However, the conductor did not receive the money due to network issue. She told him that after reaching Vellarada, she would pay the money, but the conductor did not pay heed to it and dropped her midway at Tholady. The woman's complaint is that she was insulted in front of other passengers and he shouted at her asking her to get out and dropped her off in a dark place.
The woman had to walk for about two kilometers to Nilamamoodu, where her husband was waiting for her. Divya filed a complaint with the higher authorities of KSRTC, demanding legal action against the conductor who dropped her midway. Meantime, conductor Anil Kumar said the woman had not boarded the bus and such an incident has not happened. The bus operates service on the Kaliyikavila - Vellarada route. The conductor also said that the bus had not operated service on Koonambana on the day of the incident.
