Man dies after falling into the sea while taking selfie

KOVALAM: A young man who went to Azhimala with his friends fell into the sea and died while taking a selfie. Jayakuttan (35), son of Maniyan Chettyar and Thankamani, of Valiya Kunninpurath House in Thiruvallam has been identified as the deceased. Jayakuttan and his friends reached the shores of Azhimala at 12.30 pm after attending the engagement ceremony of a friend in Neyyattinkara yesterday and climbed a rock and took a selfie on their mobile. Meanwhile, Jayakuttan fell into the sea as a strong wave hit the rock. Lifeguards on the beach rushed to the spot on hearing screams and rushed him to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital in a 108 ambulance, but couldn't be saved. The body will be released after postmortem today. Akhil and Manu are brothers.
