THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of crowd management, Sabarimala has made online booking mandatory for darshan during Mandala-Makaravilakku season. Spot booking at 12 centres, including Pampa, will no longer be available. The decision was taken in the board meeting held yesterday under the chairmanship of Devaswom president PS Prashanth.

Daily bookings will be for 80,000 people per day (90,000 before). Devaswom Secretary G Baiju said that this is to make comfortable darshan possible for the devotees. Last time Sabarimala was very crowded during the Mandala period. The government was blamed for not being able to manage the rush. The officials were instructed about the preparations to be made for the next season. A review meeting will be held again on June 10 regarding Sabarimala. Sabarimala Executive Officer Krishna Kumar, Deputy Devaswom Commissioner VS Rajendra Prasad, Board Member Adv Vijayakumar and others participated.
