'Centre's move to insult Kerala', Doordarshan should withdraw its decision to screen 'The Kerala Story', says CM; will approach Election Commission, says UDF

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday demanded that Doordarshan should immediately withdraw its decision to screen the film 'The Kerala Story', which was made with the aim of promoting hatred against Kerala. He also stated in a press release that the central government should refrain from the move of using the country's official news broadcasting organization to belittle Kerala during the elections. Doordarshan is set to screen the movie tonight at 8:00 p.m.

"A public sector organization like Doordarshan should not become a puppet acting according to the communal agenda of the Sangh Parivar. Doordarshan is not an agency for BJP candidates to carry out communal campaigning. The announcement that the movie will be aired tomorrow is tantamount to insulting the whole of Kerala. This movie is a product of the crookedness that arose in the mind of the Sangh Parivar with the aim of ridiculing Kerala and fostering religious rivalry. Kerala should stand united against such moves aimed at communal polarization," the CM said.

Opposition Leader VD Satheesan also demanded that the central government should withdraw the decision to screen the film 'The Kerala Story' on Doordarshan.

"'The Kerala Story' is a film filled with lies about Kerala. By screening such a film on Doordarshan, the Sangh Parivar administration led by Narendra Modi is using a strategy to create a rift within the secular society. It is unacceptable that the Sangh Parivar is using Doordarshan, a central government institution, for political gain. This is a flagrant violation of the election Model Code of Conduct (MCC). The Congress and UDF will approach the Election Commission against the illegal action of the Modi administration," Satheesan said.
