THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSEB has stated that power connection will not be cut off after 3 pm and has launched a SMS campaign against fake message alerts recieved on phone.
This is the second complaint in six months, a school teacher in Kottayam was the victim of first attempt. There are indications that an interstate racket is behind the scam. KSEB chairman lodged a complaint with the police and cyber unit. KSEB is preparing for more campaigns. At the same time, the authorities do not know from where the customer information was leaked.
The scam starts when people call the number shown in fake messages. During the call, they say that the money you paid was not received by KSEB, so you should check the information immediately. You will also be asked to install a mobile app. After installing the app, your phone details will be accessible to them.
"No KSEB employee will contact you regarding the bill after 3 pm. If anyone comes, they should contact the nearest KSEB office. Consumers need to be careful. Complaints have been lodged against fraudulent attempts.", said Dr. B. Ashok, KSEB Chairman and Managing Director
