PATHANAMTHITTA: A KSEB employee was manhandled by a few youths for failing to restore electricity even after repeated requests, a complaint said on Monday. According to the complaint, Vincent Raj, a native of Kovalam, KSEB Section Officer Overseer, Pathanamthitta Vaipur was beaten up and abused.

The police have registered a case against four people in the incident. The incident happened on Sunday. As per reports, four people broke into the office and roughed up the supervisor. The power supply in the region was disrupted last day after trees fell due to heavy rain and wind. Few youths in the region had to call the office and complain about the situation, as the power was not restored even 24 hours after the incident. With the situation not improving, the youths charged to the office and slapped the overseer on his face at 5 pm on Sunday.

The female sub-engineer, present in the office at this time, recorded the footage of the incident on her mobile phone. In the released video, the group is seen blaring abuse and threatening other officers while one chair was also kicked aside.

The complaint also states that the four-member group threatened the woman engineer. It is suspected that the youth committed the violence under the influence of alcohol. Police have identified the accused. After being treated at Taluk Hospital, the injured overseer was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. As per the latest report, the accused will be arrested by Monday night, the police promised.
