THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Member of the Pandalam royal family and former chairman of the palace management team PG Sasikumar Varma passed away at the age of 71. He died from a heart attack at a private hospital in Thiruvalla.
Born on May 13, 1952 to Kottayam Kidangur Pattiyal Godasharman Namboothiripad and Ambika Thampuratti of Ambikavilasam palace, he began his career as an official sub-editor at Deshabhimani before joining the Secretariat. He retired as Deputy Secretary in 2007 and remained active in various social organizations.
He served as the President of Pandalam Keralavarma Memorial Reading Room for an extended period and held positions as State President and Secretary of Kshatriya Kshema Sabha. He also worked as a personal assistant to Minister Paloli Muhammad Kutty during the EK Nayanar government in 1996 and as an Additional Private Secretary to him during the VS Achuthanandan government.

Son-in-law: Narendra Varma (Section Officer, Secretariat). Public homage will be held at Pandalam Palace followed by his cremation at 3 pm on Wednesday.
