THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The power outage at Sree Avittam Thirunal Hospital (SAT), the state's largest maternity hospital, has finally been resolved. The KSEB has now started supplying electricity after avoiding generators. With this, the power crisis in the hospital has been completely resolved. The problem was resolved by replacing the vacuum circuit breaker in the transformer. The power supply was disrupted in the hospital for three hours on Sunday night due to a fault in the circuit breaker while recharging an old generator.
The power supply disrupted at 7.30 got power at 10.23 pm. Power was restored by bringing in a temporary generator from outside. During this time, the hospital crowded with infants and pregnant women were in darkness. With this, the bystanders and relatives protested strongly.
Meantime, there was no power disruption in the Golden Jubilee building including the Neonatal Ward and NICU. Therefore, the authorities informed that there was no problem in the systems including ventilator and incubator. The Director of Medical Education Department informed that there was no problem in the ICU of the children's section.
