The accident involving Thrikkakara MLA Uma Thomas has become a hot topic of discussion in Kerala, with numerous controversies arising around the incident. Now, actor and director Alleppey Ashraf has openly shared his views on the reasons behind the MLA’s predicament. He has also criticized actress and dancer Divya Unni. Ashraf expressed his opinions through his YouTube channel.
"The day after I learned about Uma Thomas's accident, I visited the hospital. I saw Uma, who was on a ventilator, being taken for scanning. Her face was swollen. Her condition was pitiful. The impact of the fall caused injuries to her brain. Initially, the doctors had mentioned that this could lead to memory loss, reduced responsiveness, and other complications. However, it’s heartening to know that she is overcoming these challenges," Ashraf said.
"The MLA’s condition was very critical. This was undoubtedly an accident caused by negligence on the part of the organizers. The public has understood that this happened due to a greedy pursuit of money. Mridanga Vision organizers and Oscar Event Management are responsible for this safety lapse. 12,000 dancers participated in the event. It is reported that the organizers collected over Rs 5,000 from each participant, amounting to more than Rs 6 crores. In addition, they have earned more than ten crore rupees, including sponsorship and ticket sales," he said.
"If even two or three lakhs had been spent from this Rs 10 crore, a sturdy stage could have been built. There are good stage constructors in Ernakulam. But the stage was constructed with a mere investment of Rs 25,000. In recent times, it has become apparent that film industry figures are often involved in various large-scale frauds in Kerala. Here, the reason is actress Divya Unni. All she wanted was fame and recognition, which she achieved. What does it matter to her who falls or dies?" Ashraf said.
"Many had warned Divya about the credibility of the event organizers. Instead of heeding their concerns, she got angry with them. She ignored all the complaints for the sake of her desired achievements. Divya should have taken responsibility for this mega show. Instead of using a proper barricade on a VIP stage, they tied a ribbon worth Rs 10 to save money. In olden times in our villages, we used to tie a coconut tree log and rope to cross streams. If they had used a rope instead of a ribbon, Uma wouldn’t be in this condition today. Action has been taken against the organizers, but the organizers know very well that all of this will only last for a short time," Alleppey Ashraf added.
