KOCHI: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is conducting a search at the house of Maoist leader Murali Kannampilly. The NIA team raided his son's house at Thevakkal in Kakkanad. The NIA team comprising of eight members is conducting the search.
It is reported that the officials team arrived in connection with the case in Hyderabad. The team of NIA from Telangana arrived in Kochi with a warrant. When the team asked Murali to open the door, he refused to open and then waited for his lawyer to come. The officers then broke opened the door and entered. Murali may be interrogated after the raid.
Murali, a heart patient, lives alone in this house. Murali Kannampilly was released from prison in 2019 after spending four years in Pune's Yerwada Jail. He is a native of Irumpanam in Kochi and was an accused in the 1976 Kayanna Police Station attack case.
