Record alcohol sales on Uthradam day: ₹124 crores worth of liquor sold

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Malayalees consumed a record amount of alcohol this Uthrada Day, with liquor sales reaching a staggering ₹124 crore on Saturday alone, surpassing last year's figure of ₹116 crore.

Kollam's Ashramam outlet emerged as the top seller, recording ₹1.15 crore worth of liquor sales. Following closely was the Karunagappally outlet, while Chalakudy ranked third, with an estimated ₹1.04 crore in sales. The Iringalakuda outlet secured the fourth position.

In comparison, during Uthrada Day 2023, the Iringalakuda outlet led liquor sales, raking in ₹1.06 crore, with the Kollam Ashramam outlet in second place at ₹1.01 crore.

All Bevco outlets remained closed in Thiruvananthapuram during the festive period.
