ALAPPUZHA: A KSRTC Swift bus crashed into the underpass of the national highway in Cherthala, injuring 28. Nine of them are in a critical condition. The accident happened when the bus was coming from Coimbatore to Thiruvananthapuram. The accident occurred Tuesday early morning at around 4 am.
The accident happened when the bus crashed into the wires installed to construct the underpass, which is part of the national highway, in the premises of Cherthala police station. The fire brigade arrived from Cherthala and cut open the bus and pulled out the driver Sreeraj and conductor Sujith. It is reported that their injuries are serious. The injured have been admitted to Cherthala Taluk Hospital. The initial conclusion is that the accident happened as the signal to divert vehicles was not seen.
