Tight contest in Attingal; UDF leading, closely followed by V Joy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A tight contest is taking place in Attingal in the Lok Sabha elections. At present, UDF candidate Adoor Prakash is leading in the constituency. He currently has a lead of 609 votes. He is closely followed by LDF candidate V Joy. NDA candidate V Muraleedharan is in the third position. Adoor Prakash had won in the constituency in 2019.

Attingal Lok Sabha Constituency comprises Varkala, Attingal, Chirayinkeezhu, Nedumangad, Vamanapuram, Aruvikkara and Kattakkada assembly constituencies of Thiruvananthapuram district. Dr A Sampath of CPM had won this constituency in 2009 and 2014. In 2019, Adoor Prakash defeated Sampath. In 2019, Attingal was one of the four constituencies where the BJP registered a massive increase in its vote share. Hence, the BJP had high hopes of winning in Attingal. Some exit poll surveys had predicted that the BJP would win in the constituency.
