KANNUR: The court will pronounce the verdict on the anticipatory bail plea of P P Divya, former district panchayat president, charged with abetment of suicide on the death of ADM Naveen, on October 29. The hearing on her anticipatory bail plea started at the Thalassery principal sessions court this morning. Strong arguments were witnessed between the defense lawyer and the prosecution.

The prosecution alleged in the court that Divya personally attacked the ADM. The prosecution informed the court that she did such an act with proper planning. The prosecution also pointed that the deputy collector had given a statement that Divya was not invited for the farewell function of the ADM.

The defense lawyer told the court that Divya had a strong stand against corruption and that she had received two complaints against him. She came for the farewell function after the collector invited her informally. She had told the collector that she would attend the function. Divya’s lawyer also informed the court during the hearing that the deputy collector invited her to speak.

Divya’s sensational speech at the farewell function was read in the court. Her argument was that what she said was not abetment to suicide and that she advised him to do better.
