Victims who lost ration cards in Wayanad disaster soon to get new ones; distribution started

KALPETTA: Distribution of replacement cards has started for those who lost their ration cards in the Wayanad landslides. Revenue Minister K Rajan handed over new cards to three residents of Punchiri Mattam and five residents of Chooralmala based on applications received from people living in camps.

The minister said that the distribution of ration cards is the first step in providing complete rehabilitation including documents, employment and other basic facilities to those staying in the camps. An Adalat-style camp will be organized at Meppadi to collect information from the camps and provide all the lost documents to the concerned. The minister informed that the district collector has been instructed to prepare a system to make the lost documents available accurately. The Minister complimented the officials of the Civil Supplies Department for making arrangements to distribute the cards on a wartime basis.

Cabinet sub-committee members PA Muhammad Riyas, AK Saseendran, OR Kelu, district supply officer TJ Jayadev, food commission member Vijayalakshmi, Vaithiri assistant taluk supply officer Rajendraprasad and rationing inspector TR Binilkumar participated in the function held at Meppadi St. Joseph Girls Higher Secondary School.
