THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The health condition of former chief minister V S Achuthanandan undergoing treatment for heart attack, remains unchanged. The doctors attending on him said that they are trying to normalize his kidney function, breathing and blood pressure.

The next 72 hours are crucial. The medical board will be convened today to assess his health condition. After that, a medical bulletin will be released. He is under the observation of doctors from the departments of cardiology, neurology and nephrology.

His son Arun Kumar had mentioned about his father’s condition in a Facebook post last night. ‘There has been no significant difference in my father's health condition from yesterday to this morning. However, by evening, the doctors indicated that there has been a slight improvement. The 72-hour observation period has not ended. Hope to reach a clearer conclusion tomorrow morning,’ his post said.

The medical board had met yesterday to assess his health condition. Ministers V Sivankutty, M B Rajesh, former minister K K Shailaja, Lulu Group chairman M A Yusuff Ali and many others reached the hospital and spoke to VS' son Arun Kumar and others. VS was admitted to SUT Hospital in Pattom, Thiruvananthapuram on Monday afternoon.
