PATHANAMTHITTA: A woman riding a scooter sustained injuries after falling into a pit on the road. The accident took place on the College Road in Ranni, Pathanamthitta. The pit had been dug by the Kerala Water Authority. The injured has been identified as Anupama Sukumaran (29), a native of Cherukulanji. She has been admitted to the hospital. According to the hospital authorities, she lost four teeth in the accident.

The mishap occurred on Thursday morning while Anupama was on her way to work. The accident happened because the pit dug by the Water Authority was not properly covered. The pit was part of a pipe-laying project under new road construction. After the accident, Water Authority officials arrived at the spot and covered the pit using metal and soil.

Two-wheelers often get involved in accidents in areas where road works are in progress, as pits are generally left open or poorly covered. Locals have expressed strong protest, saying that despite repeated accidents and loss of lives, no proper measures are being taken to prevent such incidents.
