Yellow alert in several districts including Thiruvananthapuran;  thunderstorms and rain till May 3, people in these districts should exercise caution

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain with thunderstorms in Kerala from today until May 3. Strong winds with speeds of 40-50 kmph are also likely. A yellow alert has been issued in various districts from today until May 2.

29/04/2026: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam
30/04/2026: Idukki, Kannur, Kasaragod
01/05/2026: Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Wayanad
02/05/2026: Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Wayanad

The forecast indicates the possibility of isolated heavy rainfall. Heavy rain means rainfall between 64.5 mm and 115.5 mm within 24 hours.

The IMD also said that in the next three hours, moderate rain with thunderstorms is likely at isolated places in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, and Malappuram. Winds may reach speeds of up to 40 kmph. Meanwhile, there is no restriction on fishing along the Kerala–Karnataka–Lakshadweep coasts today.
