KOLLAM: Thrivikraman Nair, father of Vismaya, an Ayurvedic medical student who committed suicide over dowry harassment, has bought an Audi car. Vismaya was harassed mostly for giving a less expensive car as dowry. Nair bought the second hand Audi car a week ago after selling the Toyota Yaris given as dowry for Vismaya.

Nair arrived in Toyota Yaris to hear the verdict in Vismaya’s suicide case. He said that he decided to sell the car as he feels sad seeing it. The Yaris worth 11.75 lakh was sold for Rs 7.5 lakh and bought Audi for Rs 24 lakh.

Vismaya’s husband Kiran Kumar started harassing her for Volkswagen’s Vento Car. He had once told her parents that he doesn’t want this girl and this bad car. His audio saying that he got shocked seeing the dowry car, on the previous day of his marriage, had turned a crucial evidence.

Vismaya had committed suicide on June 2021 early morning at her husband's house unable to bear dowry harassment. Kiran Kumar, who was sentenced to 10 years’ rigorous imprisonment in the case that created an uproar, is now in Poojappura Central Jail.
