‘This is a perfect drama’; midnight search scripted by CPM-BJP, says Shafi Parambil

PALAKKAD: The midnight police search in the hotel where women congress leaders were staying was colluded both by the CPM and the BJP, said Shafi Parambil MP. Even the officials in charge of the election were not aware of it. It was a clear drama, alleged Shafi. The attack will be faced politically and legally. The UDF will observe a protest day in Palakkad today. The Congress activists will stage a march to the Palakkad SP office.

The police conducted the search alleging that money was brought illegally during the time of the by-polls. However, a scuffle broke out in between the search in Palakkad. The congress came to the fore alleging that the police barged into the women’s rooms. The scene turned worse when the CPM and the BJP demanded a search in all the rooms. The leaders and activists clashed for nearly three and a half hours at midnight.

The congress leaders had a verbal dispute with the media. The leaders and activists of the CPM and the BJP sought a search in the rooms of congress leaders. The congress leaders alleged that the search was not as per norms. Leaders including Shafi Parambil and V K Sreekandan asked the police to give in writing what they got from there. The police had to write nothing was obtained.
