MALAPPURAM: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) will field CPM leader M Swaraj in the Nilambur assembly constituency for the bypolls to be held on June 19. Swaraj is state secretariat member of the CPM. His candidature was announced by party state secretary M V Govindan.
M Swaraj is also former state secretary of DYFI. M Swaraj of Nilambur, was a former MLA from Tripunithura. Govindan said Swaraj is a good candidate for a political fight. He added that Nilambur is a politically important constituency.
‘The CPM will contest the Nilambur by-election. Nilambur is a politically important constituency. It is the land of Comrade Kunhali. P V Anvar deceived the Left Front. Anwar is a political Judas. Anvar said about the UDF that when he begs them, they throw mud on his face. Kerala is seeing Anvar's pathetic picture. This is a political fight,' clarified M V Govindan.
The CPM is of the belief that the race will be tough when Swaraj, who is actively working among the youth, is fielded in Nilambur. M Swaraj told media that he has won the elections both as a CPM candidate and as an independent candidate. 'The votes in this election will be a recognition of the LDF government's rule. I am entering the race with firm confidence. The Left Front's fight is against those who stand against our ideas,' M Swaraj told media.
