PATHANAMTHITTA: Congress is angry over the speech made by KPCC political affairs committee member PJ Kurian, praising SFI and criticising Youth Congress. Kurian's remarks were made at a protest meeting organised by Pathanamthitta DCC on Friday. KPCC president Sunny Joseph and UDF convener Adoor Prakash were also present on the stage.
"SFI has shown excellent organisational skills in keeping the angry youth together. We need to see how strong their organisation is despite all the opposition to the CPM. Why can't the Youth Congress do the same? Youth Congress leaders are only seen on television. What's the point if you can't go to a constituency and get at least 25 youth with you? If you had listened to what I said during the candidate selection in the last assembly elections, the UDF would have got at least three seats in Pathanamthitta district," PJ Kurian said.
Rahul Mamkootathil responds
Youth Congress state president Rahul Mamkootathil MLA's Facebook post in response to P.J. Kurian's remarks. "The number of Youth Congress members at family gatherings may have decreased but that decrease will not be seen on the streets," Rahul replied on the stage. This was followed by a Facebook post.
"Pathanamthitta District Youth Congress President was shown on TV again. Police took him into preventive detention. They said the Youth Congress workers should be in preventive detention as Veena George is coming to the constituency. The Youth Congress has been continuously fighting on the streets against the Pinarayi government for the last nine and a half years. Let those with eyes see. Let those with ears hear".
