THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A student in Vattiyurkavu higher secondary school was mercilessly beaten by classmates for breaking ties with drug gang. The 16-year-old has suffered injuries to the spinal cord and has been admitted to medical college for treatment. The incident happened on Friday at noon when the classmates decided to punish their former gang member. Over 20 students took space to beat down the student, all in front of the helpless gaze of faculties. The teachers in fear of retribution never revealed the details to the parents. Later during treatment, the student broke down in front of the doctor and revealed all the details. Letters seeking action have been sent to the chief minister and education minister respectively. The children involved in the crime are minors, so a case has not been registered.
