Parotta turns villain; Student dies while undergoing treatment for food allergy

THODUPUZHA: A student has died while undergoing treatment for a food allergy. The deceased is Nayanmariya (16), daughter of Vazhathoppu native Siju Gabriel. Nayanmariya died while undergoing treatment at the Idukki Medical College for an allergy caused by consuming Parotta. Nayanmaria was a Plus One student at St. George Higher Secondary School, Vazhathoppu.

Sources said that Nayanmariya used to develop allergies whenever she ate food items made from maida and wheat. However, she had recently started eating such foods again after the situation improved. But she fell unwell after eating Parotta the other day. She was then taken to the Medical College and put on a ventilator. The death occurred in the afternoon.
