In a new introduction, the MTech students from next year need to study a foreign language which will be part of the syllabus, confirmed technological university vice chancellor Dr. Ciza Thomas. Connecting this, more discussions were carried out between the university and the German consulate general. The move is deemed a prudent one and will be a tour de force for the students. Getting a knack for different languages is normally considered a boon that will add up to the person's achievement. The move should have been introduced at least five years back. At least for now, schools should also make it mandatory to introduce foreign languages to boost cognitive functioning and the ability to multitask among students.

The students won't solicit to learn any foreign language. It can only be made possible by introducing it in the syllabus which will make it impertinent for them to clear the studies to get marks. The trend of students embarking on foreign shores after completing the 12th standard has turned out to be a new normal in the state. In most Scandinavian countries and the other neighboring ones, the first year of the course is purely dedicated to learning the native language. A student having basic know-how of the language won't see it as a predicament, unlike the novice ones who should do a great year's labor to clear the language barrier. It is estimated that at least 5 lakh students from Kerala will migrate to foreign lands for studies in the coming five years. It is an ignominy that the youth are shifting their base to foreign lands but not relying anymore on their homeland. At least the government can do is assist in their educational sojourn by implementing courses that help students learn an array of foreign languages. Engineering, medicine, and health care are the most sought-after gigs in foreign lands. The technological university pushing for the current introduction of a foreign language is nothing but a saving grace for the students to get easy employment with language playing no spoil-sport in the process.

Switzerland and the German consulates have reached the universities with internship opportunities and other academic assistance. The varsities look to joining hands with the consulates to help the students take an easy leap in their careers. If a proper understanding between the two takes place, the students keen on a career in Switzerland, Germany or Japan won't need to give a king's ransom but can study in an affordable manner.
