Local roads cannot be taken up by PWD

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister PA Muhammad Riyas said in the assembly that it is not practical for the PWD department to take over the roads of the local bodies and develop them. Only one-tenth of the 3 lakh km of roads are under PWD. Out of this, 15,000 km of road will be upgraded by BMBC. The minister replied to the submission of Vazhur Soman that the priority is to renovate the PWD road to a high standard and the road connecting the Thodupuzha-Idukki-Pirumedu constituencies will be considered as a separate project.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the second Pinarasi government came to power, 1.14 crore was spent on the State Youth Commission. 1 crore for the salary of employees and honorarium of members and Rs.14.27 lakh for office expenses.
