Maid stages 'theft drama' after stealing 55 g of gold, gets arrested

MUVATTUPUZHA: A twist in a robbery case probed by Muvattupuzha police as a maid who claimed to be the victim later turned out to be the villain. As per the police, a story robbery was created by Padmini (65), a woman who was working as a maid at Kalarikal Mohanan's house in Kizhakkekara, to steal the valuables in the house.

In her complaint, Padmini said that on February 1, while she was doing housework, someone broke into her house, snatched her necklace, gagged her mouth with a cloth, broke into the cupboard, and stole the gold ornaments. In the scientific investigation led by DySP Mohammad Riyaz and SHO KN Rajesh following the instructions of District Police Chief Vivek Kumar, the police discovered that the robbery was a drama staged by Padmini. 55 grams of gold stolen by Padmini was found hidden in various parts of her house. Padmini has been working in Mohanan's house for a year.

SIs Athira Pavithran, Vishnuraj, KK Rajesh, ASIs Jayakumar, Joji and CPO Jijo Kuriakos were also part of the investigation team.
