NEW DELHI: The Congress party to appeal against the Surat Court’s verdict sentencing Rahul Gandhi to two years imprisonment in a defamation case. A five-member panel has been entrusted for the legal fight, said AICC general secretary K C Venugopal.
Rahul Gandhi's is not an isolated incident. He alleged that the opposition leaders on the whole are being hunted. ‘Those responding against the mistakes of Narendra Modi are being intimidated and silenced using central agencies. Legal action will be taken against the case.
An attempt is being made to silence Rahul Gandhi with cases like Abhimanyu was trapped in the Padmavyuha. The Congress is not a party which fears. We will overcome the challenges and move forward with the problems of this country. The government should not think that can be distracted from the Adani issue,' said Venugopal.
A Surat court on Thursday sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to two years imprisonment in a defamation case filed against him over his 'Modi surname' remark made in 2019 during an election rally for Lok Sabha elections.
