Poornima was expelled from spa for stealing, took revenge by snatching belongings of youth who helped her get job; made him naked and recorded video

VIZHINJAM: The police have arrested one more accused in the case in which a youth was manhandled by a gang, including a woman, for not paying salary for work in an Ayurvedic spa. Vizhinjam Thennoorkkonam native Ajin (26) was arrested on Tuesday. The police had earlier arrested Coimbatore native Poornima (23) in the case. Vizhinjam SHO Prajeesh Sasi said that Beemapally native Shafi and two more identifiable persons are on the run. Attingal Oorupoika native Anoop (38) was beaten up by the gang on Sunday.

Anoop was the one who had helped Poornima get a job in the Ayurvedic spa in Vanchiyoor. On Sunday, the gang manhandled Anoop alleging that Poornima did not get her salary dues from the spa. The gang also snatched away his gold and mobile. Both Poornima and Anoop were friends. They both became friends in Ernakulam while Anoop was working in a company there. Later, Anoop helped her to get a job in the Ayurvedic spa owned by his friend in Pattoor. Poornima was recently expelled from the spa for allegedly stealing a power bank from the spa. Poornima and the gang later took Anoop to Ajin's house in Thennoorkkonam and manhandled her alleging that she did not get her salary dues of Rs 23,000.

After snatching away Anoop's wallet, mobile phone, ring and watch, the gang made him naked and recorded a video. Following this, they took him to various places such as Kovalam Lighthouse, Kanyakumari, Attingal, etc and manhandled him.

Anoop, who managed to escape from the gang while in Kovalam, soon approached the police and informed the matter. The case was then handed over to the Vizhinjam police as the incident happened within the limits of the Vizhinjam police. The police said that Poornima did not possess therapist qualifications and that she was living at the house of a relative. Poornima was produced in court and remanded. Ajin will be produced in court today. The accused were arrested by the gang involving SIs Vinod and Harshan.
