Cop who stole mangoes from shop terminated from service

shihab

IDUKKI: CPO P V Shihab of the AR Camp and accused in the case of stealing mangoes, has been terminated from service. The action was taken by Idukki district police chief. His name was included in the list of cops to be terminated. Idukki police superintendent V U Kuriakose issued a notice to him asking him to inform if there was any reason not to dismiss him. This was as per the instructions of the DGP.

In addition to mango theft, his name was placed in the dismissal list for facing disciplinary action in two other cases. He was caught in a case of stealing mangoes kept in front of a vegetable wholesaler in Kanjirapalli, Kottayam in last September. He was identified from the CCTV visuals of the shop. The shop owner's complaint said that 10 kg of mangoes worth Rs 600 were stolen from the shop. Though a case was filed for theft, the court had later settled the case after the owner informed that he has no complaint.

Shihab was arrested on the complaint filed by a woman of Pakkanam to the Mundakkayam police in 2019. He was suspended in a sexual abuse case. The Mundakkayam police had also registered a case against Shihab for misbehaving with women. He was also accused in a case of barging into a house and attacking the inmates.
