Kochi-based IT professional held with MDMA

KOCHI: An IT expert, a software engineer in a foreign IT company, was arrested with MDMA in Kochi. A special action team of enforcement assistant commissioner in Ernakulam arrested Gokul Raj (24), a native of South Vennala in Edappally, Kochi. 6.82 grams of MDMA in eight zip lock covers were seized from him.

He smuggled the stuff from Bengaluru with the help of his IT professional friends and sold it to his colleagues here. He was under the surveillance of a team led by Ernakulam enforcement assistant commissioner B Tenymon. He was nabbed by the excise team when he was standing on the Vennala-Janatha Road at midnight to hand over the drug. Though he tried to throw the packets containing the stuff to a nearby drain, he did not succeed in that.

Ernakulam Range Inspector M S Haneefa, Intelligence Preventive Officer N G Ajith Kumar, preventive officer, K Jayalal, Sunil K R, CEO of City Metro Shadow, N D Tomy, town range SEO T Abhilash were in the team to nab him. He was remanded later.
