IDUKKI: Arikomban has been spotted on the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border. It is hinted that the rogue tusker is 10 kilometers away from the place where it was released by the forest department in Periyar Wildlife sanctuary. The last signals received says that he is travelling back.

If Arikomban reaches Vannathipara area, it is five kilometers away from the populated area of Tamil Nadu. The Tamil Nadu Forest Department is closely monitoring the possibility of the elephant crossing the border.

A special task force of the forest department captured Arikomban after tranquilizing it on last Saturday. The tusker was released to the Periyar Tiger Reserve early Sunday morning. The tusker was released near Senioroda, 23 km from the inhabited area of Kumily.
