airport

KOCHI: Two people were caught for smuggling gold at Nedumbassery. The detained have been identified as Sooraj from Iringalakuda and Mohammad Faisal Rahman from Malappuram. They tried to evade customs and came out of the airport with gold, but were caught by the police. 634 grams of gold were seized from them.

Sooraj hid the gold in the form of four capsules in his body. He arrived on Air India flight A1 934 from Dubai. Even though he bypassed the customs and got out, the police got suspicious and stopped him at the aid post and checked him. Mohammad Faisal came to pick up Sooraj from the airport. The police are interrogating both of them. Two days ago, gold worth Rs 52 lakh was seized from a passenger who had arrived from Dubai at the Nedumbassery airport.
