THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vice Chancellor Dr Mohanan Kunnummal has frozen the Kerala University union elections after it was found that an SFI leader was named as University Union Councillor (UUC) instead of the elected member from Christian College, Kattakkada. It must be noted that a UUC has voting rights in the university union elections. The University VC took action after it was found that SFI Kattakkada Area Secretary A Visakh was named the UUC instead of Anagha, who won as University Union Councilor (UUC) in the Kattakkada Christian College Union elections. Following this, SFI ousted Visakh from elected positions. The University will take action against the principal, Dr GJ Shaiju, who was involved in the fraud. It is reported that he will be removed from his current position. The syndicate will meet on May 20th to discuss the matter.

The registrar summoned the principal on Wednesday. The principal handed over the corrected list to the registrar after omitting Visakh's name. According to principal Shaiju, Visakh was named as UUC after the elected representative announced her intention to resign. The principal also wrote to the registrar that the union elections were conducted under the leadership of the commission in the college, where student politics was banned due to constant clashes. The registrar directed to produce all the documents of the election. A Visakh is a first-year B.Sc student of the college.
