THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Rekha Sharma, Chairperson of the National Commission for Women said that the state police failed in the murder of Dr. Vandana Das. She criticized that the police officers present at the Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital could not intervene in time to prevent the attack on Dr. Vandana Das. Rekha Sharma accused that there are problems with the police intervention and no one tried to grab the attacker.
No effort was made by anyone present at the scene to save Vandana. Four men could not stop Sandeep from attacking the doctor, despite him being injured. Despite Vandana's cries for rescue, no one came to her rescue, she said. Rekha Sharma also asked whose decision it was not to provide primary treatment at the hospital where the attack took place but to transfer the treatment to a distant hospital. She informed that the police investigation into the death of Dr. Vandana Das was not satisfactory and that she would meet the state police chief Anil Kant. Rekha Sharma added that Vandana's parents were unhappy with the police investigation and had demanded a CBI investigation.
