NILAMBUR: Two people have been arrested with two deer antlers. The arrested are Muhammadali (34) of Koottampara Cheruthodi in Nilambur and Malayil Ummer (44). They were arrested when they were trying to sell the antlers fixed for lakhs.
The police had received secret information that gangs were operating in the hilly areas of the district selling ivory and deer antlers at a fixed price of lakhs.
An investigation conducted by a special investigation team led by Nilambur DySP Saju K Abraham and Vandoor sub inspector Shailesh Kumar got hints about this gang and some agents. A detailed investigation found that people are approaching them as middlemen from many parts and trying to do business by quoting a price of up to Rs 20 lakh.
Vandoor Police and DANSAF team from Perinthalmanna and Nilambur conducted an investigation and caught the accused with deer antlers hidden inside the car near Vandoor Mancheri Road. The police informed that the investigation will be intensified focusing on the agents, clients and others related to them.
CPOs Jayesh and Ajesh and members of Perinthalmanna and Nilambur DANSAF Squad were in the police team.
