WASHINGTON: Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is on a three-day visit to the United States, received a warm at the White House the other day. Several leading businessmen of the world participated in the State Dinner hosted by US President Joe Biden for Modi.
Apple CEO Tim Cook, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, and celebrities including Billie Jean King and Ralph Lauren attended the White House dinner.
Reliance Industries Limited Chairman Mukesh Ambani, General Electric Company CEO Larry Culp, Boeing Company CEO David Calhoun, Bain Capital's co-chairman Josh Bekenstein, Flex CEO Revathi Advaithi and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman also attended the State Dinner hosted by Joe Biden.
According to reports, businessmen from around the world were included in the dinner as part of Biden's effort to increase diplomatic and economic engagement. This shows Modi's efforts to establish India as a manufacturing and technological partner of America.
Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to promote millets, First Lady of the United States, Jill Biden, included millet-based dishes in the State Dinner. First Lady Jill Biden worked with guest Chef Nina Curtis, White House Executive Chef Cris Comerford, and White House Executive Pastry Chef Susie Morrison to develop the menu for the State Dinner.
The first course included Marinated Millet and Grilled Corn Kernel Salad; Compressed Watermelon and Tangy Avocado Sauce.
For Modi, a vegetarian, the dishes were prepared by guest chef Nina Curtis of Sacramento, California under the direction of First Lady Jill Biden. Guests were served marinated millet, grilled corn kernel salad and compressed watermelon as starters.
The main course included Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms and Creamy Saffron-infused Risotto. There was also Sumac-roasted Sea Bass; Lemon-Dill Yogurt Sauce; Crisped Millet Cakes and Summer Squashes.
