THIRUVANATHAPURAM: The launch of Chandrayaan 3, ISRO's flagship project, will be delayed by a day. It was initially scheduled to be launched on July 13. As per reports it will be launched on July 14. Ahead of the launch, the rocket was moved to the launch pad at Sriharikota.
Chandrayaan 3 will be launched from launch pad number 2 at Sriharikota at 2.30 pm on the 14th. The Chandrayaan-3 mission aims to achieve a soft landing on the Southern Polar Region of the Moon. The mission consists of a propulsion module, a lander and a rover. The purpose of the propulsion module is to put the lander into lunar orbit.
ISRO's capital this time is the valuable lessons learned from last time's failure and by repeatedly testing and modifying the structure of the lander to the landing method. A trajectory similar to that of Chandrayaan 2 has been chosen for the journey from Earth to the Moon. The landing attempt will be 40 days after leaving Earth.
ISRO's visions this year are not limited to the moon. The Aditya L-1 mission to study the Sun will be launched in August. The crew escape system test which is part of the Gaganyaan project is also targeted to be completed this year.
